In Forged Alliance, the Sparky (UEF field engineer) had a radar jamming ability. I was wondering what the community thought of the possibility of resurrecting that ability for the current Field Engineer. A (30 sec?) ability that you need to activate. Thoughts?|||-The-Baron-|||Essentially, the field engineer had a jamming ability that would cause other players to see about ten different blips per one engineer with radar, unless they had omni or vision on the false targets. It would mean that the auto target would fire on non-real units. You couldn't target the false blips yourself, so all you had to do to get around it was to attack the real blip, but it was a pretty neat feature, and I think that it would serve the SC2 field engineer well.|||I always thought Cybran should be sneaky (ie radar/vision-stealth/cloak), and the Aeon would be the ones to get extra fake-radar-blips on their units.|||I am all for more intelligence tricks and tactics created by radar invisibilty and spoofing. However, I am not really a fan of starcraft like invisibity which equals invincibility as provided by the cicada.
I do feel all factions should get some ability like this.
+1|||Problem with the sparky jamming and the UEF frigate jamming was that it was trivial to figure out how many units the opponent actually had. All the extra blips kept the same distance and moved together in perfect unison, with the actual unit near the center. The only thing that it was useful for was to get the auto-targeting to fire at the ground, which was again also trivial and didn't amount to much additional micro.
That being said, the field engineer could use some sort of buff to it as its abilities are rather limited right now.
I'd also like to see a radar stealth upgrade to the late game cybran air tree, possibly after the vision and radar upgrades.|||dawumyster|||Giving field engineers to UEF at the start whilst reducing their health by 100 would make sure that they're regularly used AND would not replace tanks either.
