The Willy.

Image
My Willy has a giant, semi-transparent, shield covering it. But enough with the innuendo.
But has it occurred to anyone that the Willy is the only floating Aeon unit with aircraft engines on it? If this thing was originally slated as an experimental gunship, why the fook was it changed? One of those things flying around would be absolutely boss.|||It would make it the most skew gunship ever. Whilst the idea of a flying subhunter is AWESOME. I do feel that the aeon have no further need for another experimental gunship.
The shield is probably very useful actually, because it provides a means to close in on battlships and defend against their AOE.|||Manta|||Is that a blue shield? on MY AEON UNITS?|||BulletMagnet|||Maybe GPG could tell us what this unit was originally supposed to be? :D|||A willfindja.|||Nephylim|||It just needs range.|||Nephylim|||Eric|||Looks like the mobile stuff of the Aeon Illuminate are yet suffering of extreme Hydrophobia.|||Z32|||Nephylim|||That and it would just hard counter all surface vessels and be immune to the gunships that are supposed to counter it.|||Manta|||Nephylim|||Manta|||In which case, discuss the feasibility of using renegades to counter UEF subs blocking up your coastlines.|||Bastilean|||One thing that really hurts is the lack of torpedo launchers for defense...
Makes the Tigershark that much better.

RIP|||Nephylim & Bast|||Bastilean|||If the original weapon isn't turreted and doesn't have recoiling muzzles or racks, it's possible to use the same muzzle bones for additional weapons.
Worst case scenario, you can use the mesh's bone 0 just fine for dropped weapons (bombs, torpedoes, etc). It might look a little funny from underneath depending on the shape of the mesh, but that's not exactly a common viewing angle.
Additionally, if the unit already has a ground-attack weapon, it could simply be scripted to fire a different type of projectile at any unit in a layer that its default projectile can't hit (e.g. launch a torpedo at a sub instead of a bomb).|||That's cool, in which case the next argument is to really work out where the torpedo bay research lives on the tech tree. I know modding it in would be a pain (but not entirely impossible given the tech data is in the Lua I assume). The previous sugggestion of adding after the damage upgrade seems way too late to me (I mean, paralell to the soul ripper?), maybe a separate branch which goes paralell to the renegade and leads to the damage mod. Meaning you aren't forced to unlock the renegade if you want your gemini to not suck.
