Cheater?

Okay so, Silver Commander (A friend of mine) and I were playing a 2v2 on the map "Rigs" against these two randoms, one with 100 hours, one with no profile setup, which we had just played in an earlier game and got owned. So, we were playing aeon just as I thought was best, suddenly... loads of battleships popped out of a player called "Dragon" at 8 minutes. We got battleshipped to death. So after watching the replay, we firstly descovered how "Dragon" (Green UEF player at top right corner) got the Gauss Cannon direct-fire turret upgrade on his mass extractors by 35 seconds! Secondly, we also discovered how he got double-barel upgrade on his cruisers with only 2 labs by about 3.45 minutes after the turret upgrade. Furthermore, he got mass conversion aswell as battleships by 7.50 minutes, just with 3 research labs, after the mass upgrade AND the barrel upgrade.
So we went and did a test in the game, and just to find out its impossible to get what he researched in such short time, with only 3 research stations. Unfortunetly I didn't keep his steam profile open/saved so there's nothing that I can do. I also just did a quick look at "modern" in the bottom right corner, he got the ACU energy upgrade by 1.45 without ANY research labs, I did a test to find out this is also impossible.
Please post your opinions and tell me if you think its somehow possible?
