For all the newbies and casual players out here, I am making a guide on how to micro your units.

Neph|||+1 to awesome guide!|||Woh thats a ninja response! thanks word|||GASP. You didn't mention ctrl-groups in managing multiple blobs? And I'm not in this? I thought I was D:|||b00m4156|||Looks quite good, and shows me just how atrocious my own micro is
Just a couple suggestions/thoughts:
Music was just a tad loud to hear your voice clearly.
Was the lag that bad for you or was FRAPS slowing you down alot? We have had alot more success dumping FRAPS captures to a secondary hard drive so it doesn't impact game performance.
I was surprised that you weren't using hotkey groups, but not using them made it much more clear what you were doing on-screen for purposes of demonstration.
Don't forget the micro-friendly command line we added back in 1.22 - /reverserightclickmode. I would love for more competitive players to know about this option.

Great guide
|||Awesome guide Neph! You pretty much went over exactly what I teach my mentees, but I was too lazy to make a guide for it myself. So many unfinished projects...I do go a bit more in-depth with blob-versus-blob warfare though. You didn't go over the raid-counter raid micro in your video.|||GPG-Servo|||Great guide.
I did some number crunching to come up with some interesting stats (ie, how many mexes or powergens do you need to produce constant rockheads from one factory), or at which point does it become more worth it to produce fatboys than rockheads/demolishers, if ever.
Il release it in a week or so.|||- Desynchronizing arty is nice, but not really nescessary. This seemed to work well enough for demonstration purposes
- I dont use control groups. Zooming out, doubleclick/drag box works well enough. I would have to rearrange my control groups every time I get reinforcements to the front, and im sure ill forget it once or twice.
- Lag is both due to normal lag and fraps.|||Excellent. Thanks alot. One really poor area of my game has been in the micro arena. This helps. Now it's off to practise!|||Nephylim|||Grim Tuesday|||I suppose. Meh, Im not gonna bother editing that in
So if what I suspect is right here, units like the Universal Colossus and the King Kriptor were never intended to replace tank blobs; they were made to function as meatshields (like the ACU) first to preserve the health of your tanks(your main firepower) and second to rip open holes in base defenses again preserving your tanks from being exposed to point defense weaponry. They have less health and damage than equal points tank blobs but the trick is they can soak up damage without being killed(like the ACU), thus preserving your tanks and in turn not giving your opponent RPS for destroyed units.
Anyway, I'll have to try that out in the mid game. Thoughts?|||FunkOff|||GPG-Servo|||Great guide Neph! I got a slight hum in the background though, both on my iphone and on my computer speakers. I think it might have something to do with the way you're mixing the audio or your microphone.
For part 2, I would like to see a bit about dodging tank and commander shells. This is pretty doable with any of the bots or the afterburner upgrade. Also, for air micro, you might want to show how to micro those AC1Ks. Destroyer was trying to show me how to do this and I got the basics down (hovering in one place, flying backwards, ect) but I still need work on getting the bloody things to move sideways so they can kite while still firing those guns. I'd be happy to be target practice for you if you'd like.
Also, the hot keys for toggling the fire modes are [ and ] I believe. They need to be remapped but it still beats clicking on the fire modes in the UI for me.|||dawumyster
