What should I do first? I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get this game for next to nothing. I don't have the DLC, but I'm curious as to what part of the game I should try first.|||Youve made a brilliant choice to buy this game^^. I have nothing else to add except, if u play multiplayer watch replays of really good people on http://www.gamereplays.org to learn how to play :)|||Mooilo|||First, you should smack your forehead for not taking advantage of the deal several weeks ago where both the game and the DLC were on sale for a total price of $8.50.
Then you should NOT play the tutorial because it is crap, slow, and teaches very little; you know, the standard SupCom tutorial.
Then you should start up a 1v1 skirmish on a 1v1 map, select the hard AI, then proceed to admire sorian's work.
Then you have the great option of choosing more skirmish, multiplayer, or campaign. Choose wisely. The manner in which you play the game hinges on this decision.|||BulletMagnet|||I'd recommend a couple skirmishes against the admittedly very pretty AI, then jump straight into multiplayer. Of course, my opinion may be slightly skewed as I haven't yet encountered an RTS campaign I liked. If you do decide to go multiplayer, watch a few replays and try to get someone decent to teach you the ropes. You'll learn much faster than trying to figure out everything for yourself (although that may be more satisfying, now that I think about it).|||The campaign is terrible, avoid it unless saturday cartoon plots and repative gameplay get your rocks off.
The DLC is awsome, get it.
The ladder is not that great but more people playing it isn't going to make it worse.
Play the ladder, play some teamgames, get down the basics and hone your skills. Then head over to GR and look into signing up for a tournament next time they hold one. In fact, you migth just wanna check them out for their Tp of the Week and player guides, a whole tonne of usefull stuff there for newbies.|||Z32|||I had lots of fun in the campaign. It doesn't have the DLC or any changes but it does offer fun fights usually with many experimentals in play. The achievemetns are fun too.
Skirmish vs AI is great too, but you will be amazed how much the challenge varies game to game. It is highly dependent on the map and the starting locations as well as what AI faction/strat are picked. I usually leave it random faction faction, and random strategy (rush, turtle, air, land, ...). And I try to adjust the number of AI and the level (easy, normal, hard, ...) to make the game a fun challenge. However, I get a lot of games that are easy wins, which isn't ideal. I think ideally I would like a game where it took 40-60 minutes to defeat the enemy. However, if you crank the AI enough that it can last for that long, it usually crushes you:)|||BulletMagnet|||REad some guides D=|||Like your totally useless guide from ages ago that's absolutely not relevant anymore sov?|||sovietpride|||Z32|||Hot damn. Why are most of the units in this game so damn ugly? And tiny? This doesn't feel like SupCom. The ranges are ridiculously small, the scales are weird, and I feel like bits of the UI are missing.
Anyways... well, I'm glad I got this game for $3.75! I'll probably still play through the campaign.|||Mooilo|||Mooilo|||Mooilo|||Mooilo|||Yeah the first time I played the game I was weirded out by how small it "felt," but then I realized that everything had really short range, and then I realized the ratio was about the same.
Eventually I got over the feeling entirely and I don't notice it anymore.|||X-Cubed|||REALLY!! I remember it was $5.25 for the game and $3.25 for the DLC.|||sovietpride|||BulletMagnet|||I don't mod Sup2. Well, I have, but only an attempt at allowing proper modding to take place (which was unsuccessful). Just take a look at the mods yourself; it shouldn't be hard to spot which one has it.
