Hella cool!!|||Ya, it runs WAY better than Sup Com 1.
I don't know anything about coding, by in my humble(though possibly flawed) opinion, this game is beautifully optimized.|||oh yeah, 2k units fielded and it goes smooth as silk.

Who's that pokemon!?|||It helps that it looks a hell of a lot worse. Lower polly units, lower res textures, less environmental effects like dust on the ground and unit tracks n' such. The animations are a lot better though. It certainly does run significantly smoother, I just miss the beauty of FA...
I'm not a total SupCom 2 hater, I do come back to play it from time to time, I just find FA to be more of my kind of game. It seems like the put more time and love into the first games, but I'm sort of digressing. Yes, SupCom 2 does run much better, thanks to a more polished engine, but comes at the price of less prettiness.|||Quote:|||And terrain textures. FA has far better textures.|||1)old news, this changed with DLC.
2)still has nothing to do with ANY performance. including graphics.|||JWest|||BulletMagnet|||Because of the first resolution setting I took, I never realised until now that the ACU is actually taller, less square. Majors also look taller than with my before resolution.
Makes the game so very much more enjoyable with max settings
Yes the ground textures are better in FA than in SupCom2. That's a valid complaint. But I wonder how many people actually notice the texture quality in-game. I look at an FA tank at high settings and a SupCom2 tank at high settings and I can't find the difference in texture quality. And sometimes the detailed FA terrain textures just makes it seem like there are rocks on the ground when there aren't any.|||Whether or not you like the art direction (I'm on the fence with UEF, but I like the new Cybran and Illuminate), SC2 is a more graphically-cohesive game. All of the particle effects in FA looked a little disjointed and out of place with the blocky units, and the unit textures and colors did not read well from a distance. And if you play the game zoomed way in all the time, you're kind of missing the point of the whole SupCom series.
That isn't to say FA is a bad looking game, but both Demigod and SC2 have much better blending of effects and meshes, and certainly no less mesh or texture quality (other than the terrain textures, which is not really noticeable and more than made up for by the significantly more detailed map meshes).
And of course it runs much, much better at an equal or higher level of graphical detail and sim complexity. That's a huge deal, considering how poor FA's performance was. It's a shame they decided to give every unit like 9 weapons with 3x ROF by the end of the game though - get three or four huge armies in a clash at 30-45 minutes, and the sim speed starts doing that familiar crawl again, even if only because it's simulating a much greater number of objects that a similar FA game did.|||I've been playing a little FA lately and I missed the Supcom 2 graphics. There is no way FA has better graphics. The one exception is that FA will let the camera angle go lower, I wish Supcom 2 had that. I use 2560x1600 and the Supcom 2 graphics are just amazing, even fully zoomed in at that resolution on a 30" monitor.|||LayZboy|||HA, the truth, your funny!
