Should you be able to research the Atlantis from the Air tree?
Should the Atlantis unlock the purchase of an air upgrade in the air tree?
Should the Navy Transport upgrade unlock the purchase of the transport upgrade?
Vice-versa should the air transport upgrade unlock the purchase of the navy transport upgrade?
How about Aeon or Cybran? Cybran has a carrier in it's navy tree.
Do we want to provide a path to experimental transports from the land tree?
How about Noah or Space Temple?
If you were going to create a wormhole between techs, how would it work?
Right now I am leaning towards the Navy Transport Upgrade flexibility, because it doesn't upset things too much and might be useful.
This is a pure speculative discussion and not intended as a request thread for GPG or a particular mod.|||Just in case you didn't see the thread in dev support, the worm hole concept comes from the fact that code-wise, all the items in the research tree are actually part of one big massive tree. The LANSA subtree arrangement of the items is simply visual and artificial and is not represented as such in the code itself. Every item has direct access to every other item in the overall tree and, therefore, can link to it via prerequisites. It is possible to make items in one subtree be prerequisites for items in another subtree.
Even if you guys are just speculating, I can put a mod together to implement your ideas.|||Let's not forget about certain ACU techs that would be useful to get at but don't facilitate ACUrushing. Like the AA gun mod (since it's a dead end tech) could come from somewhere like maybe adaptors or the airnomo.
Atlantis II should probably branch from eagle eye torpedoes. Command class should probably give access to renegades.|||Could have the major experimentals lead to mass conversion.
Maybe adapters/mex AA/airnomo to ACu Hunker.
Something on the air tree connected to TMD for uef/illu.|||Everything pointing to SMD.|||Unlocking gunships should lead to overcharge.|||Would that not lead the the nubbiest tactic of all?
Spam gunships and ACU rush, now in combined form!|||Isnt it magnificent?
UEF example: Researching build cost/time reduction should lead to all cost/time reductions in each tree.|||UEF cost reductions are all the first part of the tree anyway, except ACU.
We'd need some kind of guiding vision to these wormholes or we'll just get carried away. I like the idea of linking mobile air factories into the air trees. What also might be necessary is to be able to wormhole to key counters. E.g. SMD from some other experimental. In principle I like the idea of Adding specific parts of the ACU tree as wormholes from other techs so you can counter ACU snipes. Another rule we must abide by is that wormholing to a tech should always cost a grand total of more RP than simply teching to it in the traditional way.|||This was a part of the original design for the tech tree. The number of permutations for research build order would have been astronomical.|||Eric|||Eric|||Manta|||So what model are you using for the tempest? And are you going to make it a mobile land factory with wtfpwn production speeds or wtfpwn oblivion cannon?
Perhaps this new naval tree should also wormhole to the Quantum floating research. Heck, you could probably move that research and Yenzoo torpedoes into the naval tree just to keep it all tidy.|||Wow, ummmz...
I am going to get started on adding new content soon. I can't promise provide a schedule right now. I am way ahead of my planned schedule, so that's good. You can thank BulletMagnet, Neph, Mithy and LoD. I will need help getting educated, and I don't really know what's required atm. My current release is pretty awesome as far as balance goes. I have followed Neph a lot, and we have been sharing items too. I do want to do some bug fixing and improved controls content too.
I hadn't thought of other Aeon navy wormholes yet...
True statement: The Super Oblivion Cannon should be satisfying. Expect it.
Also, I do plan to give the Tempest some serious production potential. You can count on Aeon Navies appearing like weeds late game if I can code it and balance it.|||Also, you can't call it the Tempest, you need some other Illuminate styled name now, e.g.
"Maksalot"
"Aquafak"
"Gozunda"
...Or you could just call it Tempest.|||SpaceCyg? Really? Ran out of inspiration or something? This name looks more lame than all of your other ones combined.|||We should name an illuminate unit after you. You know, with all the weird names n stuff, would be fitting.|||Back to topic:
I just want to say I have considered all the suggestions for B&P.
Manta - I have made SMD cheaper tech to get to in the B&P mod.
Spuddy - I have made TMD cheaper to get to, especially for UEF in the B&P mod.
RPhilMan - Cheap Consumerist sounds cool conceptually. You should check out the improved Mass Extractor buff I added to each Structure Training.
Neph, your's is outright silly. But then you knew that when you posted it. Also, I did notice you derailed my thread.
Everybody - ACU connections don't feel right to me. AA is beneficial to a rusher by the way. That's why it's hard to get now. It wasn't always.
I want to thank everyone for the good ideas so far, and ask that if you have new ones or more along the same vein keep them coming.
PS. Manta I like the 'Tempest' especially if it produces Wind, Thunder and Lightning. :) However, I also have a soft spot for Leviathan.|||Bastilean|||Land training 6 - Acu overcharge?
