Rising to become PC Gamer UK's Co-op Game of the Year doesn't seem like a failure to me, especially like many of the whiners in this forum would have you believe the game is.
Personally, I completely appreciate all the work you guys put into the game, I DO NOT REGRET the $50 I spent to buy it when it first came out (or the $50 of my friends), and I loved the DLC just as much as the original game. Don't listen to all the complainers, SupCom 2 is a great game and I love that you continue to update and support it, despite its apparent lack of popularity.
I've been playing Total Annihilation since I was 12 years old, I've always been a huge Chris Taylor fan, I've tried literally dozens of different RTSes in my lifetime, and SupCom 2 is my absolute favorite; it has even surpassed my love for TA. You guys did a great job, and keep up the good work.|||I support this. If you don't like the game, just don't play it. No need to insult the people who put so much hard work into making the game. Thank you, GPG, for making a really fun game and giving it so much support (balance is getting really close now).
Also, for the record, I think I am the only person in the world who enjoys FA and SupCom2 about on the same level
How I see it:
SC/FA:Great concepts and ideas, but failed on execution.
SC2:Narrowed down the concepts and ideas, but did far better at the execution.|||It's still easily my fav game, flaws considered. If they do make a Sup Com3, I'll most likely get it(If I get a PC that can run it though).|||Both SupcomFa and Supcom2 are awesome! :)
Best of FA + Best of Supcom2= Supcom3 = Best RTS ever created on this planet!
Thank you GPG! I love you all ;p|||splattedone|||And that K&C doesn't allow people to abuse disconnects.|||VoW-Kryo|||I think that SupCom2 has been far more amazing and powerful than I expected by a long shot. It would be nice to see continued support for what has been the best salute to the best community base of any game.|||If SupCom 2 provided modding capabilities and convenience to the extent that SupCom FA did, then I would be more receptive to it - so long as there are no hard-code locks on any of the gameplay aspects.
As it stands, I am disappointed with SupCom 2 and do not like its gameplay. If the skins were different and the game was not advertised as a "SupCom" title, then I believe the game would not even register a blip on the radar.|||madface|||BulletMagnet|||You should focus your efforts onto KNC then.
From the video blogs and occasional posts by staff here, KNC is likely to have;
- A proper map editor,
- Some level of mod support,
- A new name, and new IP to break from existing sentiments,
- Further engine improvements,
- Lessons learnt from community response to Sup2.
KNC looks like it will be better than Sup2 in pretty much every regard.
I agree with you that FA > Sup2, but the time for crying about it is well and truly over. You should hold your tongue, or just participate in the constructive discussions that would improve the SupCom franchise further, or likewise for KNC. fransotto's thread on the Sup2 campaign is a good example; people asking "what if we did this?" and having nice responses like; "no, because you haven't considered that."|||BulletMagnet|||madface|||Nephylim|||madface|||madface|||DaemonicKnight|||LayZboy|||Well, good luck with modding the economy and making higher tier structures. Tell me when you get it to work.|||madface|||Nephylim|||RPhilMan1
