Has GPG abandoned SC 2?

[:1]Not to be negative, but I haven't heard a peep from GPG for months now. Is there any sign of any patches or DLCs? Or has GPG simply forgotten about Supreme Commander 2?
Should we just be content with what we have or is there any hope left for some changes, particularily in the balance department?|||SE has to order any patches or DLC. As we dont hear anything, I dont expect SE to want any of that stuff.|||Maybe they are working hard on Dungeon Siege 3! :D|||Dude... Dungeon Siege 3 is being developed by Obsidian.|||From the fact that I have seen them continue to monitor this forum I would say that they are still interested. However SE has probably moved on. I don't know how much it costs to issue more patches or if SE needs to approve them or put them through QA.
Personally I think a company should always have someone whose main job is to talk to the customer and have reasonable autonomy about what he or she can say. At the very least GPG should explain what its employees are allowed to say on these forums. In general talking about your product keeps customers interested even if you don't offer new information.|||That man is supposedly Servo.|||...Well, to paint more black on the walls;
News on swedish gaming site;

Quick translation by google;
Square Enix earnings fell 28 percent during the last nine months of 2010 compared to last year, according to new financial report. Only controversial Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days and the Japan-popular Dragon Quest Monsters Joker managed to sell over 2 million mark during the 2010 fourth quarter.
In the 2010 financial years end on 31 March expect the publisher to 89 percent lower earnings than in 2009. Corporate Head Yoichi Wada mentioned tougher game competition and that they had very strong titles (Dragon Quest IX and Final Fantasy XIII) who helped during the corresponding period last year.
Among the games Square Enix has the highest expectations for the fiscal year's last quarter (January to late March) are mentioned including Tactics Ogre: Let Us Together cling, Dissidia 012 Duodecim, The 3rd Birthday and Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection.

I believe this is the answer; The financial situation for the publisher.|||So where does that leave us? I'm hoping we'll still get at least one patch. Maybe they can take a cue from the community patch that Nephylim is working on.|||I, for one, would love to work some more on SC2, but that is not my call.|||Or maybe, Just maybe, They finally realized what a waste SC2 was, and are going back to FA!
Forged Alliance has so much potential XD|||Don't troll like that, please.|||sorian|||BulletMagnet|||While I agree with FA having more potential, there's a time and place for such things and this thread is not it.|||+1 Bulletmagnet
Also, thanks Sorian for replying.
We should focus on the current situation of SC2 here and not on FA. If you want to emphasize the potential financial benefit of making an FA derivative please make a separate thread.
Pretty much what is being asked is a question about GPG's and SE's plan for the game is. What, I ask is that the companies have a chat for an hour or so, decide what they are going to do and tell us that. Personally, I would like that they produce a new patch based upon the community balance project's conclusions so far or alternatively enable us to make the patch and then just handle the distribution through steam.|||I think basically they have nothing to say that will make us happy. All the things they can truthfully say will only make us unhappy. So why should they say anything? That's the feeling I get.|||AdmiralZeech|||There's obviously a point where the developer has to pick their battles. Supcom 2 still needs work, but it's been out long enough and done well enough to stand on its own, at this point continued support is just beating a dead horse.
KnC, ho!|||Z32|||To a point I agree with that. However what, I would like is for GPG to take a couple of hours at most to implement a few specific number changes and distributing that through steam. Neph and others have already tested the changes. Just a couple of final details are left.|||Anyone know the stats on an SE game that performed similarly to SupCom 2 in sales so as to get an idea what kind of support that game received after release? Even if there isn't a direct comparison, a sampling of SE games should give you a good idea what kind of support can be expected for SupCom 2.
Just a pure guess on my part, but I think the most that can be hoped for is probably 1 more patch and 1 more DLC pack, if we're lucky. SE needs to make money. They have the infrastructure to turn out new games within a short time frame, and any new releases will pretty much guarantee more income than DLC for an existing title that has plateaued. The number of new SupCom 2 purchases are trickling, and at this point, new game purchases at 5 x $50 vs 5 DLC x $10 is more profitable for the company.|||I would say that they could still profit from another marketing push. A free weekend as suggested in the other thread would certainly get some sales as long as it made the front page of steam's store.|||This is out of the hands of GPG and SE. The publisher and developer have virtually no input into how Steam (the distributor) markets the game and sells it. Check out the following article, which talks about Steam's business model and how it shafts developers:

An interesting and very short complimentary article, but a bit off-topic, is:
http://www.neoseeker.com/news/10259-stardocks-new-drm-detailed-a-new-industry-standardr/|||Has anyone contacted SE to see if they can get an answer. I imagine if there was enough in-their-face demand for a patch they might consider it. Who knows.
I, personally, have a nice long laundry list of things I would like to fix.|||this is a list that I would like to see.
