Disconnect Poll

[:1]We have seen an uptick in reports of lobby instability for players (i.e. players getting dropped from multiplayer lobbies). We are uncertain whether this is related to a recent patch, some unknown adjustment on Steam, or just a dearth of other things to complain about. We cannot recreate the circumstances in our testing, so this poll will help us get an idea as to the scope of this issue. Please only answer based on your own individual experience, not on what you witnessed or have heard other players experience, this will allow us to get a better grasp where the issue could stem from.|||If I might add, there appear to be two kinds of lobby disconnects. The first, which in my experience was most frequent, was (I think) new to the DLC and was caused by 0 ping between two players (unable to establish connection) followed by an auto-kick after a set duration (10 seconds?). This still occurs, but (seemingly) less frequently in 1.23
The second is random kicks from the lobby, with ping to all players. I have no guesses on the cause, patterns, or anything that may cause it. As of 1.23, this occurs more often (in my experience) than disconnect type #1, although I don't know what patch first started it.
I voted DLC (1.20) because disconnect #1 apparently started then. #2 may have predated it. (I cannot remember....)|||Lobby disconnects are very real and fairly frequent for me, yet I unfortunately cannot remember when I first noticed them. I started playing again after the infinite queue patch after a long absense.
To give you an idea of how common they are for me, my best guess for percentage of lobbies I join where the match connection is lost is around 20%. Rejoining the lobby sometimes solves the problem, but frequently I have to persist multiple times in trying to rejoin before it sticks.|||It's been an omnipresent problem for me since I got the game on release day and has stayed pretty consistant for me throughout.|||Just to second FunkOff here:
Type 1)
No ping to players followed by a DC 10ish seconds later. Easily solved by just being REALLY persistent and spamming the test ping button. EDIT: From DLC onwards.
Type 2)
Completely random boot of the majority of players in the game. EDIT: Since release.
May I also request that you guys look into launch fail of the lobby? It's quite annoying when the game has the big "Launching game" bar in front of you, yet you can just press alt+f4 and "no" and then be back in a fully functioning lobby. The solution is to change a game setting that forces all players to unready, then to get all players to reready and try another launch.|||Z32|||Falcrack|||GPG-Servo|||ugh, douchebags with 0 ping who refuse do leave.
I also get the "random" disconnects, where I join a lobby, and leave withing a couple seconds without the host kicking me. Have noticed no uptick of these since patch, but since launch, they have been about 1/5 games for me.
The 0 ping, I have noticed a large up, where in almost 100% of games I play, there is someone with 0 ping.
Please fix GPG or Steam.|||Grim Tuesday|||I third Funkoff and Word's posts. The first type has been there since the release of the DLC. The second has been there since the very first release.
Servo, there is an occurance where every single player in the lobby save the host and possibly one or two players disconnect all at once. It's not super common, but it may just be less noticeable in smaller games where players may assume it's the "regular lobby bugs". To me, that doesn't sound like the people are failing to connect, because it typically happens with multiple players all at the same time, and usually after at least 10 seconds in the lobby.
Perhaps looking into that may shed some light?
Also, I think you should add in a few UI elements so that these disconnects aren't nearly so ambiguous. If you can't make a connection and are auto-kicked, make the disconnect message in both the lobby and for the player being kicked state that, so they're not left wondering if the host kicked them the regular way, or their internet cut out for a second, or what have you.
If a player actually leaves, make the lobby message say that they left of their own consent. If the player actually loses connection, make it say that. Right now it's just a guessing game about what happened when you see the universal "[insert player here] has disconnected" message.|||Ever since the DLC, I drop out of 8 out of 10 lobbies when I try to join a game. Additionally, it takes a rather long time to display the available servers.|||GPG PI|||Since the dlc i have been getting dropped out of nearly every lobby i enter. I have to host a game or connect when there is only 1-2 people in that lobby. Anymore then 4 people and it is most unlikely i will connect.
Maybe an increase in the time limit so it waits 20 seconds and then if you still are not connected, it will boot you.|||Btw. I just wanted to add that there is a possibility that some or a lot of people will vote for "since DLC" even though the issue might have been there some time before too. But they simply just started playing again due to the DLC release. I myself haven't played much before the DLC release so I can't say specifically whether this issue really only occured since the DLC release or if I would have had the issue some time before too.|||Oh, and on a side note sort of related - You can't start a game with random spawns enabled and observers set to allowed and present. It just won't let you. Unless you fixed that while I wasn't paying attention.|||For me at least half the lobbys i join kick me out after a minute or so of being in them - since the games release.|||I always host games, people have been dropping since the release of the game.
The dropping seems to have gotten worse since the DLC was released.
Some days are worse than others and there doesn't seem to be a pattern.
This issue seems to affect everybody at one time or another.|||FunkOff|||-Axiom-|||Let's keep this on topic people.
And just in case my earlier post was a bit ambiguous, I've personally experienced everything I wrote about. I did speculate a bit, but only from personal experience.|||GPG REALLY needs proper moderators lol.
But yea, is there any chance at all of this being fixed any time soon?|||I bought the game a small time after launch
But is always had discon problems|||Always had problems since release, but it only occurs with the last 2 or 3 slots in a game.
Sometimes it seems to happen when I try to change my color. Sometimes when I've been 'kickbugged' out of a game, I can rejoin and just click the faction selection and ready and it works.
Thanks for having an official response to this issue.|||I've been getting the 0 ping problem since dlc and random disconnects from launch. The ping button trick only works with some people.
