Do you HONESTLY expect an answer? They wouldnt have said they were gonna make a supcom2 right after FA either. Youll get a maybe.
Captain Obvious saves the day.|||A supa sekerit sauce said dat SoopCom 3 wil be out in 2013|||What's wrong with asking the question??? Why can't GPG provide an answer???
Is there something wrong with them saying "we currently have some other projects lined up, but we know we have a strong SupCom fanbase, so we're not ruling out the possibility of SupCom 3."
And you can't tell me they wont answer because of marketing with the fear that someone else will compete to release something comparable at the same time. Look at all the publicity of K&C and that game doesn't appear to be anywhere close to being done.
Look at my other threads that I started - my persistence got GPG involved in the discussions several times and provided information to the community that otherwise is unpublished/unknown. So you GTFO.|||I can give you the answer now. GPG has sold the intellectual property of supcom 2 to SE. They cannot make another game called "Supreme Commander" without SE's consent. SE has not indicated that it wishes to continue the franchise. Therefore, we can assume that they do not intend to so for the time being. Simply SE has not yet decided to make Supcom 3.
The supcom concept is already out there so any developer may choose to copy it if they wish, providing that they don't breach copyrights. You can expect an rts to appear in the next few years with similar strategic zoom for example from a completely different developer. Show that there is a demand for a particular game or feature and sooner or later it will appear as a product. It could take time though.
GPG have announced that they are working on a secret project. This could be anything. It may not even be a game, but a simulator or some other application. This is probably the reason why KnC is being delayed. I would not expect to see supcom 3 anytime soon.|||I didn't ask if SupCom 3 would be coming any time soon. I just asked if it was coming.
About selling the IP of SupCom 2 to SE, remember that SupCom 2 has IP from SupCom 1, which was published by THQ. The most obvious IP is the name itself. So, just because SupCom 2 was published by SE, that doesn't necessarily mean that SupCom 3 hinges upon SE's approval.|||Nephylim|||I hope not.
Let Supcom die while it has dignity.|||Me leaving the forums, not a chance.
+1 for democracy, -1 for n00b4156.|||madface|||Mister_willing_to_learn|||Bastilean|||madface|||Neph, I didn't say that using the tech tree itself was slow/fast. I said it was annoying. Once you play the game a handful of times, you pretty much remember the layout and can upgrade what you need fairly quickly. What I mean is that for fast-paced games, I like to be able to see the battlefield at all times. I don't want to have to keep switching back and forth, regardless of how fast it can be. Being able to upgrade via the HUD still gives me a tech tree while at the same time allowing me to keep 100% visuals on the battlefield.
EDIT: at the very least, if a tech tree is a must, at least make an option for it to be transparent.|||madface|||-The-Baron-|||THQ never owned the IP for SupCom1. SupCom at the time was the property of GPG. But for SupCom2, it clearly stated that Supreme Commander is the trademark of SE. Therefore, the IP for SupCom is in SE's hands. So SupCom3 is SE's call. And let us face it, RTS games never have blockbuster sales figures, and especially not games that are as complex as SupCom. SE has many other franchises where it can make much more money, so a game as expensive and risky as SupCom3 (especially if it is more like FA) will not get much support anytime soon.
Also, most games are not announced until they have been in development for 9 months or more. It's way too early for a SupCom3 announcement.|||Are you sure about that? I always thought that the unit redesigns in SupCom 2 were because of licensing issues. Didn't GPG/SE have some licensing discussion with THQ in porting the Monkeylord over to SupCom 2? Perhaps THQ gets a % on the DLC sales?|||supcom 3!
I hope that I live to see the day
Im waiting for you supcom3, untill it appears ill be waiting!
(if made by GPG)|||I think THQ has the publishing rights for SupCom1. Thus replica content cannot be made. The name "Supreme Commander" belonged to GPG. Not anymore.
I think THQ does have some control over the SupCom1 content, but not over the name. Now that the name SupCom is in SE's hands, only SE can say that there will be another Supreme Commander game. GPG or another company can make a game that is in effect SupCom3, but it cannot be called SupCom3.|||In other words, 1 + 2 != 3.|||that is incorrect
1 plus 2 does equal three
I even checked using a calculator!!!!
if there will be no supcom 3, I hope to see even greater games, KNK looks great, but I still want that flow eco|||lol
I do hope that at least some sort of SupCom clone takes the place of SupCom 3 if the official is not forthcoming. TA skins, SupCom skins, or some other skins, doesn't matter to me just as long as its something robotic with lots of explosions.
Anyone have any ideas what the next TA/SupCom entity should be called?|||supreme annihilation?
